'Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut' is identical to the Dreamcast original right down to the glitches. What's new here are some extras and a few graphical enhancements. All of the character models have been improved, the level architecture hasn't changed, but the colours are brighter and more vibrant and the standard framerate has been upped to 60. There's a new map feature for the Adventure Fields so you can see exactly where you are... needless to say, it comes in quite handy in the Mystic Ruins jungle area. Camera manipulation with the right analog stick can be set to auto or free; auto is the original setting, where you get a first-person view of your surroundings. Set it to free to see the surrounding area around the character. Additionally, Metal Sonic now appears as a playable character. He's your reward for collecting all 130 Emblems, but he can only be used in the Trial mode. He has access to all of Sonic's Action Stages and Sub-games, and also has all of Sonic's attacks and special moves. The Chao mini-game has been improved on from the DC original. The Black Market is now accessible from the Station Square Chao Garden. Send the Chao to your GBA without any cartridge inserted and you can play a special mini-game in which Cheese sends Sonic to search for certain Chao within a time limit. Look for the hint orbs and Tikal will give you a hint on where to find the Chao you're looking for. Cheese will reward you with Rings for each Chao you bring to him. The showcase addition is the new Mission mode, a series of Sonic Jam-esque tasks that have you running around the Adventure Fields and performing weird stunts in the Action Stages. Complete the game as a character to open his/her Mission mode: once you're in, search around the Adventure Fields for mission cards. Some are out in the open, but most of them require some hunting. Each card has a number and a hint... decipher the hint and perform the task to complete the mission. There are 60 missions in total, and they range from pretty boring to stupendously difficult.
