Sonic the Fighters was an arcade only release. Sega collaborated with AM2 Division to create this Virtual Fighter styled, Sonic beat-em-up. This game alone has one of the biggest cult followings due to the rarity of the game and the fact it is possibly the most unique Sonic game to be released in Sonic's prime.
