Past Layouts
Here is our extensive (yeah, right) past layout collection. Unfortunately, I'm the worst person for back-ups and keeping my past layouts intact (most of the time I just overwrite them when I update) so this collection of past Sonic Yoda layouts is a little thin when it comes to the earlier but I have managed to find some remnants which I was able to mend for a screenshot!
Okay so this isn't our first layout. But unfortunately our original layout is so far gone it's impossible to resurrect anything from it other than old content and a few images. I guess this layout would be Sonic Yoda's second layout. I was so bored of the frames I'd been using for all my sites previously that I looked for something simple and effective on www.freelayouts.com and worked a new layout around that. It's incredibly crude but it did what I wanted it to do at the time... however time consuming updating it became. This layout would have been used for a few months nearing the end of 2003.
I'm not really sure if this actually is Sonic Yoda's third layout but it's near enough and probably the longest layout design the site had. I think it was up for about a year with only minor changes like banners and background images being changed when I felt like it. It was also my first attempt at a theme changer which believe it or not, Sonic Yoda did first before any other site jumped on the bandwagon. This layout would have been used for almost the whole of 2004.
This just proves how bad I am with keeping my site's history well documented. As I said before, most of the time when I update a layout I just overwrite the previous one and I've been doing that ever since I started in 2003 to save on space when we used to be hosted at Geocities (to think this site survived on just 15 megabytes!). Not a lot to say about this layout except it was my first attempt and taking the layout away from the tabular style I've been using forever. This layout was up from May 20th 2006 to July 9th 2006.
IMAGE So our faithful host Digibase closed. Luckily, Sonic Strike agreed to host us and with the help of DigitalXeron we moved successfully. To go with the move I decided to revamp the layout as a little gift back to everyone who experienced our lengthy downtime. This time I decided to keep it simple and return to the tabular style I used previously. This layout has been up since July 9th 2006 to August 7th 2007.
IMAGE This time around the idea was to move away from the standard, blue layouts you see everywhere. Trying to keep it simple, I ended up with this; a whitish, greyish, tabular wreck. Okay, it's not that bad. This layout has been up since August 8th 2007 and to be honest, I think it's time for an overhaul.
A huge thank you to Old Sonic Web for preserving a large portion of Sonic Yoda's history in their archive section. We're listed in the 'Hub' section.
